Friday Night Lights’ Connie Britton has adopted a baby boy from Ethiopia, her rep confirms to Us Weekly. The single 44-year-old actress, who now stars on FX’s new hit American Horror Story, adopted 9-month-old Yoby — a nickname for Eyob, his given name — after a three year adoption process.

A Friday Night Lights movie is in the works… again!
The high school football drama, which is based on movie that was based on book, has had so much success on NBC that executive producer Peter Berg announced at a Television Critics Association event on Monday that talks for a movie have begun.
It’s tough to say whether the writers could create a movie different enough from the last one to keep it fresh. But if the show’s been successful, executive producer Jason Katims must know what he’s doing.

“Friday Night Lights,” one of my all-time favorite series, won the “Program of the Year” prize at the Television Critics Association Awards Saturday night and Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler and others from the cast were there to receive it.

The Austin Film Society will honor native Texans Renée Zellweger and Rip Torn and locally shot TV show “Friday Night Lights” at the Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards on March 10 at Austin Studios.
Currently in its fifth and final season, “Friday Night Lights” will receive the Star of Texas Award “for its critical success, significant contribution to the economy and its authentic portrayal of Texas.” Stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton will accept the award.

Hot off his Oscar nominated film “The Fighter,” David O. Russell—who, as usual, has a number of projects he’s working on—has added one more and set his sights on the small screen. Deadline reports that the director has teamed up with “Friday Night Lights” actress Connie Britton to create a female-driven drama for FX.
While little is known at the moment, Russell will create the series with Britton in line to star. “Friday Night Lights” ended its five-season run last October and many had speculated whether the actress would make a leap to another series immediately thereafter. The character is the wife of a deceased Alaska Senator who has a strong will. ‘The Event’ is about a cover-up involving extra terrestrials. The role of Catherine Lewis was previously offered to actress Connie Britton. Britton declined the role for unknown reasons.“
