Murphy and FX President John Landgraf last week announced that Season 2 of the show will differ considerably from its inaugural season. “The (haunted) house is done,” Murphy said in a statement found at Deadline. “Every season of the show will be a different haunting. That’s always been the plan. Every season of the show will have a beginning, middle and end, and all new characters and setting.”
On the subject of the lead actors Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, he continued: “We’re still negotiating with a handful (of the cast members) about returning… We’re also meeting with new actors whom … (click post title to read more)
For those of you hoping for a(nother) Friday Night Lights movie, there’s some not so great news on the status of the potential project. Connie Britton offered a vague update on it, which sounds as though the film wouldn’t get going until late next year, if at all.
TVLine caught up with Britton to talk about tonight’s (bizarre, dark, creepy, bloody) episode of FX’s American Horror Story, in which the former Friday Night Lights actor stars. During the conversation, they asked her for an update on the Friday Night Lights movie. Back in October Britton said Peter Berg, the director of … (click post title to read more)
What do brains taste like? Does Jessica Lange do her Tennessee Williams thing when the cameras aren’t rolling? (Yes!) How difficult is it to cut an umbilical cord, Dylan McDermott? Who doesn’t approve of Connie Britton screaming about vaginas outside Murder House when there is a real-life convent across the street? Is the place really haunted? When TVGuide.com snooped around visited the Harmons’ haunted house on a mighty chilly day last month, just as the cast and crew of American Horror Story put the final touches on filming “Birth,” the season’s penultimate episode (Wednesday at 10/9c on FX), creepy, gross … (click post title to read more)
Dylan McDermott, who plays Ben Harmon, the troubled hero of “American Horror Story,” loves “how strange and weird and creepy” it is.
“I was just so fascinated with the idea of psychological horror,” he says.
Not so his co-star, Connie Britton, who plays Vivien Harmon and admits that she couldn’t watch Murphy’s “Nip/Tuck” because it was too gory.
“I’m literally afraid of horror movies,” Britton says. “I’m afraid of the genre.”
So what is she doing in “American Horror Story” and, just before that, the remake of “Nightmare on Elm Street”?
“I was going to try to face my fears,” Britton says. “Really — I … (click post title to read more)
More often than not, networks and cable channels cut an episode order because it’s just not living up to expectations.
That’s not the case with “American Horror Story,” the new hit FX series. In fact, the opposite is true. The cable channel was so excited about the series, it put it on the air before it was ready to be complete. And now, there just isn’t enough time to complete a two-hour season finale.
Fans instead will have to settle for 90 minutes.
“The trimming of the finale is a result of ‘American Horror Story’s’ very aggressive production schedule, which left no breathing … (click post title to read more)
Since it premiered on October 5, FX’s American Horror Story has steadily grown into one of the network’s most popular shows, hovering around the 3 million viewer mark weekly. Last week’s episode, the first of a two-part Halloween-themed frightfest, proved particularly popular and so FX wasted little time announcing a second season filled with more thrills, chills, chuckles and dudes in rubber suits. Stars Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott — who play estranged husband-and-wife Vivien and Ben Harmon who are forced to deal with the bizarre goings-on in their new home, the so-called “Murder House” — recently spoke with the … (click post title to read more)
“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy is ready to scare viewers.
Murphy’s new drama, “American Horror Story,” will premiere on FX on Oct. 5. The series stars Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton as Vivien and Ben Harmon, a couple who move from Boston to Los Angeles to try to rebuild their marriage after a miscarriage and an affair. But, as the title of the show suggests, there is something nefarious going on in their new house.
Murphy told critics gathered for the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Beverly Hills that the second episode of the series will answer the show’s most important question. … (click post title to read more)
A Friday Night Lights movie is in the works… again!
The high school football drama, which is based on movie that was based on book, has had so much success on NBC that executive producer Peter Berg announced at a Television Critics Association event on Monday that talks for a movie have begun.
It’s tough to say whether the writers could create a movie different enough from the last one to keep it fresh. But if the show’s been successful, executive producer Jason Katims must know what he’s doing.
“It’s still very early,” Katims said. “I’m just beginning to plot out the story … (click post title to read more)
If and when a feature film based on the “Friday Night Lights” TV series comes to pass, Connie Britton will be there.
“I think we all love the idea so much about being able to do that,” Britton said Saturday (Aug. 6) at the Television Critics Association press tour.
That said, any possible feature-film project is still a good ways down the road. “I’ve talked to Pete [Berg, who directed the 2004 "Friday Night Lights" movie and developed the series] and [showrunner] Jason Katims, and it really is in its very baby stages right now,” Britton says.
“Listen — I was just watching … (click post title to read more)
Jessica Lange will be joining Friday Night Lights’ Connie Britton in the new drama that is still keeping its plot under wraps. What we know so far is that the story revolves around Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and his wife Vivien (Britton) who is described as “a force to be reckoned with.”
American Horror Story is being executive produced by Murphy, Falchuk, and Dante Di Loreto. Murphy will also be directing the pilot, which is expected to start production later this month.
